Google How Google Plans To Turn Apps Into Its Next Big Business GOOG

Google Apps - can Google turn this into a significant chunk of business versus Search Advertising Revenue? Their investment in Google Apps and the drive to add connected apps and functionality most recently with DocVerse conversion into Cloud Connect for Microsoft Office integration is gaining momentum. Its a serious consideration in this chastened times to cut the hassle and distraction of IT Infrastructure for business individuals and professionals. Mobility is now so key to utility on the smartphone iphone, blackberry android and all that Google Apps has the opportunity to be come the definitive portable suite. Microsoft have already either missed or decided not to seriously compete in this space despite their announcements and releases. Cloud Connect could be a major factor in pushing forward their grip on this niche. It is not without risks but as a small team business or individual could you afford a company of their magnitude to look after your servers? If you go with Google Apps and even the free personal account is well worth having, (try before you buy) then you have one hell of an infrastructure team behind you.

It is a small chunk of revenue at the moment just 3% as an income stream but have no doubt with the battle with Facebook Apps functionality and value add will need to be a continuing value add service for Google.

Even from Search perspective it makes sense once they have a user signed-up the chances of them using anything but Google for search are pretty slim, their apps solutions remain compelling.

The 3rd party apps applications are growing all the time and as with the iphone that 3rd party supply market and community drives demand not only for Search but also for tight integration on their android OS (operating system) on phones and tablets, Ipad is for early adopters and brand loyalists but there will be a market for others and Android is open as an OEM/developer environment so more brownie points for Google.

Value for money fabulous, they are releasing new functionality all the time. There will become a tipping point at which I for one will stop using MS Office, its not there yet but its coming.
